Dear Diary,
Well I got one of my most prized possessions- A music box. You're probably wondering, how I got a music box? Well first I want to take you back to Thanksgiving Day.
I found Franklin, who was collecting Knife and fork sets that the mayor passed out to me (for deliveries to neighbors) and I ended up with 2 Harvest Rugs, a harvest tv, a harvest table and a harvest chair. I sold the tv, table, chair and one of the rugs to Nook for cash but I kept one and it's a permeant fixture in my house.
As the days have passed, I have been selling fruit from fruit trees I've planted and I'm down to 95,137 bells for my loan. I haven't taken any loans for my friends this time. About 2 days ago, a little kitten named Katie wandered into my town. I noticed her crying by the beach.
I went to talk to her and she told me that she had walked off from her mom and got lost. Her mom lives in Kashyyk (my friend Chris's town). At first, I didn't believe her. How could I get her back to Kashyyk if Chris's gate wasn't open. I figured she would only be there for 1 day and then she'd be gone. But she wasn't! She was near Nook N Go the next day. Still crying that her mom was in Kashyyk and she needed me to take her home. Luckily for me, Chris had his gate open. I lead the girl to my gate, and we both walked through it.
When we arrived in Kashyyk, Katie's mom was there by the gate. She thanked me deeply for bringing her little girl home and scolded the girl for wandering off. I felt like I did a good deed for the family and went about my visit. Eventually I went home and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I had some mail. 3 letters, 2 with a present. My 1st letter was from Rhonda (neighbor in my town) she was talking about some Lemon Tea she had for lunch. The 2nd was from the ABD (bank) sending me a replacement shopping card. The 3rd was from Katie, thanking me for bringing her home. When I opened the gift wrapped present, it was a red music box with golden letters written on the top. And when you open it, it plays the Animal Crossing theme song very softly in an instrumental way.
I love it so much I put it on display within my house. I own a fair part of the Regal collection. The clock, table, bed, dresser and wallpaper. The only other object on the table was my lamp. I put the music box right next to the lamp and opened it. I love the tune, it helps me sleep at night sometimes. I guess it's my most prized possession! Everything else in my house (my regal collection) is important to me but I would sell that in a minute if necessary. This music box is something I'd never sell (not just because I can't order another)but because it's something I earned. One of my friends who came into my town offered to buy the music box for 13,000 bells (a hefty amount) and I told them no. Another offered 30,000 bells for it (would have paid off a huge chunk of my loan) but again I said no.
This isn't something that can be bought. I don't love it for the beauty or the music, I love it because someone I helped thought about me and gave it to me. How am I suppose to know if it was hers? Maybe it was a family heirloom and I won't sell it!
As for my town, I haven't gained or lost any neighbors. I guess that can be seen as a good thing. I have however got my Nook's Cranny upgraded to a Nook 'N' Go which offers a few more items that Nook's cranny did. My brother, Xav, finally paid off his first loan of 19,800 bells and decided that he's not going to pay off this next loan (he only owns 5 pieces of furniture and he's not looking for any more room).

In the United States, if a citizen does not have a job with benefits or is not above the age of 65, they are forced to pay for private Health insurance, or remain uninsured. For-profit companies like Aetna, Aflac, Cigna, and Acordia National to name a few, bank off of the American population. After receiving insurance quotes from a health insurance website, it is evident that an American will pay anywhere from $200.00 a month to $800.00 a month, depending on the plan (Insurance Quotes Online). Without coverage, however, medical bills would be in the thousands. For example, when Montana resident, Jake Baudinos wife was suffering from Cancer, he had to sell his familys home to pay for her treatment (Breeding 10). This leaves the American population with hardly any other feasible options. Thus, the uninsured and many people with poor private coverage are reluctant to get medical attention due to constant fear of healthcare bills. (Physicians for a National Health Program). This is particularly heartbreaking because if a person is suffering they should be able to go to the doctor and receive care. Instead they are forced to remain in their state of anguish due to the current American healthcare system. Eliminating for-profit companies, like the ones discussed earlier, and replacing them with a single-payer system would strip American citizens of this unnecessary fear. The government would get the bill, instead of the American population, who sometimes cannot afford the outrageous bills from insurance companies. Thus, we would be saving money and all citizens, rich and poor alike would be able to receive the much needed medical aid.
The United States pays more for healthcare than any other country, and millions are still uncovered. According to an Article from economic magazine, Dollars and Sense, the United States spent $6,037 per person in 2004; Germany spent $3,169 per person and the United Kingdom spent about $2,560 (Harrison). With our current economic crisis, it is appalling that we pay so much for such an ill-operating system. To pay for insurance programs like Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Administration and the Indian Health Service, the American population is taxed. In fact 60% of the $2 trillion annual United States health care bill is paid directly from the American population (Harrison). Thus, we are paying more than any other country and yet we are getting less health care.
It is evident that our tax dollars are being misdirected to an industry that banks on the fact that Americans get sick. Under a universal plan, the middle man, or the for-profit insurance agencies would be eliminated. Therefore, prices would go down and every citizen could obtain health insurance. Tax dollars would be redirected to healthcare, rather than insurance company shareholders and C.E.Os. After all, much of the money paid to these for-profit agencies goes to the high corporate salaries of these people (Harrison). Sixty Percent of American taxes go to the healthcare system, yet 47 million people remain uncovered. This raises the question: Where is our money going? It is obscene that money supposedly boosting our healthcare system is really going to extravagant vacations for insurance company V.I.P.s. Under a universal plan, there would be no more bills from insurance companies demanding their payment each month. This would be beneficial to our country and also to those that cannot necessarily afford paying the middleman. Adopting such a plan would make healthcare a right and save the 47 million Americans who are not provided with medical aid.
Many employers in America provide working class citizens with benefits that include insurance to cover healthcare bills. Due to the fact that our current government deems healthcare as a privilege for those that can pay, millions remain uncovered. Instead, our current government thinks of a national healthcare plan as socialism. In California, Gov-enator, Arnold Shwarzeneggar even vetoed three bills that supported a national healthcare plan (Rojas) America is still afraid to move on to a national system of healthcare. Due to the fact that our government remains stuck in its ways, many uncovered United States citizens are children. It is heart wrenching that we have children in our country without health insurance. I know that when I go to the doctor my co-pay is only twenty dollars, and sometimes that even gets expensive. I cannot imagine how much someone without health insurance pays during a doctor visit. This detrimental ideology stemming from government fears needs to be erased so we can see these babies become healthy adults. While insurance helps select Americans, what about the other 47 million people living without care? A new system would ensure that the millions of uncovered children living in the United States would be granted healthcare.
Another fear of this group of individuals is that if the government were to the healthcare industry, taxes would increase. However, as stated earlier, taxes would remain the same because 60% of American taxes already go directly to the healthcare industry. Even families that do not have healthcare must pay these unfair taxes. This inequality is outrageous! That is like going to a store and paying money for food, and not receiving the food. If America implemented a universal plan, this inequality would cease to exist. Rich and poor alike would have the same healthcare and the American population would inevitably gain the products that they pay for in taxes each year.
America is one of the very few countries that lack universal health coverage. In fact, most European countries that have implemented a universal coverage system are thriving. Even the United States bordering neighbor of Canada has a universal system of healthcare that has proved to be a success. To compare coverage between the United States and the universal healthcare system in the United Kingdom we can look at the stories of 55-year-old Linda Oatley, of the UK and Jeffrey Rubin, a United States Citizen. Oatley was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and uses the National Health Services provided by United Kingdom government. Oatley has been seeing a general practitioner, attends physical therapy and has had multiple MRI scans and blood tests. However, Oatley has never seen a bill for her medical care (Silberner). Compared to Oatley, Americans who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis have to wait over two years before federal health insurance will pay for treatment. United States citizen and fellow MS patient, Jeffrey Rubin was once paying over $2,000 a month for his medical bills, until he was forced to file bankruptcy due to financial strains caused by the current American healthcare system (Silberner).
The United Kingdom has success stories like that of Oatley every single day. Patients do not need to worry about paying bills; they worry about feeling better instead. The UK has eliminated the financial burden that still strongly exists in the United States. The UK citizens rely on a system called NHS, or National Health Services. The UK was actually the first country to implement a system of universal coverage, and its citizens are thankful (National Health Service). Private Insurance, however, is offered as a second option, but everyone is granted the choice of using NHS. There is no difference in the quality of physicians who take NHS, rather than private insurance. The only major difference is that a patient using NHS might have to wait a few extra minutes than those with private insurance (National Health Service). If we were to implement a system similar to that of the United Kingdom, United States patients like Jeffrey Rubin would be in better shape.
France is also said to have one of the best healthcare systems in the world (Dutton). Victor G. Rodwin, professor of health policy and management at New York University states, The French approach suggest it is possible to solve the problem of financing universal coverage without reorganizing the entire system. This shows that some sort of universal coverage would, in fact, work in the United States. France has somewhat of a hybrid system using both private and public sectors to fund healthcare. In France every citizen is granted the same basic coverage through national insurance funds. Every employer and employee contributes to this fund. The government will pay for the unemployed who cannot obtain coverage (Business Week). Thus, every French citizen has healthcare. France, Canada and the United Kingdom have thriving healthcare systems within their borders. Patients do not worry about putting up their houses for collateral to pay their healthcare bills. Instead they worry about feeling better. Isnt that what healthcare is about? It is for these exact reasons that the United States needs to adopt a new system of healthcare. It is evident that our current system is flawed.
Judging from recent statements made by government leaders and officials it is clear that I am not the only one supporting a universal healthcare program in the United States. In fact, president elect, Barack Obama, supports the use of both private and public funding for healthcare. Obamas plan is to build on our current system by working with insurance companies to make it accessible and affordable for all United States citizens. Like Obama, even physicians with the desire for change want to see a transformation in our current healthcare system. The group Physicians for a National Health Program, or PNHP is a non-profit organization, consisting of 15,000 members that advocates a universal healthcare program in America (Stevens). This is a step in the right direction for the American population. In response to the popularity of a universal plan, Representative of Michigan, John Conyers proposed the United States National Health Insurance Act, or HR 676 (Stevens). HR 676 would replace out current system of healthcare with a single-payer system. Conyers has the support of Physicians for a National Health Program, 90 other congressman, the League of Independent Voters, the United Church of Christ, the United Methodist Board of Church and Society, 32 city councils, 14 national and international labor organizations, the American Medical Students Association, the National Family Farm Coalition and many others (Stevens). While years ago a universal health plan was discouraged by most citizens, slowly more and more American groups are jumping on the bandwagon and supporting a single-payer system.
American senator Al Gore states, I think that weve long since reached the stage that its immoral to put people in a situation where they cannot get the medical care they need because their incomes arent high enough. I think it ought to be a matter of right and out current system just doesnt work, its way too expensive. It is time to have universal health insurance. It is evident that the American population wants change. A growing problem throughout the United States economy and a severe gap between rich and poor leaves 47 million citizens without healthcare. If the future leaders of America follow through with their promises, it could ultimately fulfill the dreams of gore, physicians and again the 47 million Americans who suffer each day.

Small steps is kind of the book after Holes but it only stars Armpit and Xray from Camp Green Lake.
When Armpit got back from Camp Green Lake he started digging again but this time he was being payed for it as he was working for a landcaper.
One day a car pulled up at Ginny and his driveway as they shared a house. And who was in the car his old pal from camp green lake Xray. Some how Xray got Armpit to to take $600 dollars out of his bank account.
He got him to do this because Kaira DeLeon was coming to their town and they were going to buy tickets and sell them for more they were worth and then split the profit afterwards.
Xray had sold all the tickets except for two tickets and Armpit had asked Xray to save two tickets so him and Ginny could go together Ginny was only 4th grade and she had seizures sometimes.
On the night of the concert Xray went and photocopied the two tickets and sold the real tickets to someone who was offering 300 dollars a ticket and then gave Armpit the fake tickets. At the concert this ticket guard came and talked to Armpit and said that his tickets were fake. Then Ginny started having a seizure and the guards thought that Armpit had gave her drugs.
Then Kaira DeLeon came out to see what all the hassel was and she made friends with Armpit and Ginny. Armpit helped Ginny through her seizure and then Kaira De Leon let them come on stage with her and sit back stage and watch her show.
